Graduate teaching

A secondary school in Portsmouth are seeking to hire a graduate teaching assistant on a full time basis for the final term of this academic year. Due to some restructuring within their support staff team and the schools desire to ensure pupils are ready for end of year exams and prepared for the next academic year ahead.

The School have allocated additional funding for a dedicated teaching assistant on a full time basis after Easter until July in the first instance. Ideally you'll be from a graduate background and considering a career in teaching, this teaching assistant position will require you to work in a variety of classes, supporting teachers and students in small groups, on occasion you may be required to cover lessons (full support given) and follow the behaviour policy and ensure the set work is completed by students.

  • Graduate teaching assistant, post starting in April
  • Supportive environment in this mixed secondary school
  • Full time position, initially temporary for the summer term
  • Earn up to ÂŁ60per day (experience dependant) via weekly PAYE pay
  • Apply now for consideration and interview with the school

Teaching Personnel work in partnership with this Portsmouth based school for all of their support recruitment needs. The successful graduate taking up this teaching assistant position will be working on a full time basis, initially temporary from April - July with the opportunity to earn a contract for the next academic year. If you are applying or have a place secure on a PGCE/teacher training course then this would be a great opportunity for further development, gain experience leading lessons and working alongside teachers to plan lessons, monitor progress and attend CPD and whole school meetings.

If you would like to apply and can bring previous experience or as a teaching assistant, please submit a CV - interviews are being arranged for an immediate start after the Easter break (April 16th). Previous teaching assistant experience is desired but not essential, suitable references and a DBS certificate is however required.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
