Job description

Spelling support assistant needed in Sheffield

  • Do you have existing experience of supporting children who struggle with spelling, punctuation and grammar?
  • Have you experience of supporting pupils with moderate learning difficulties, including Dyslexia?
  • Are you looking to support pupils learning and make a difference to the children you work with?

Accurate spelling helps children become fluent and effective writers. It also can also help with other aspects of education as competent spellers can spend less time and energy thinking about spelling, which enables them to channel their time and energy into the skills of composition, sentence structure and precise word choice.

Many children have difficulty spelling and this can have an effect, not only on their written work, but also their confidence and communication skills. The difficulties may be due to the pupils having Dyslexia, it could be due to them not being pushed or challenged enough or them having a lack of interest in English Language and Literacy.

If you have a passion for English, have done an English degree, have a PGCE with English as a specialism and want to move into one to one targeted support for specific children please consider this post.
