Behaviour Support Mentor
Do you have experience supporting young people displaying challenging behaviour?
Join a well rated Trafford school that are looking to bring on a Behaviour Support Mentor to work mainly in 1-1 and small group sessions on a full-time basis. The position is set to commence in the new academic year but the school have advised that the right candidate may be needed after May half term.
The successful candidate will work primarily to support students displaying challenging behaviour in small group and 1-1 scenarios outside of the classroom, looking to promote positive behaviour, create a positive working environment and help develop key skills. BSM’s may also offer support in class to help regular classroom teachers with the smooth delivery of lessons.
Some highlights of this position include:
- Supporting students displaying challenging behaviour in small group and 1-1 intervention and pastoral support sessions
- Offering in class support to regular classroom teachers if required, taking on Teaching Assistant responsibilities
- Liaising with parents, guardians and carers to provide academic and behavioural updates – supporting the schools relationship with parents and guardians
- Working with students from youth work and residential care backgrounds, as well as SEN and SEMH students
- Dedicated group of support staff and SEN coordinators ready to expand to cope with decreasing student engagement
- Weekly wages between GBP300 - GBP350 a week
Candidate requirements for this position:
- Experience supporting young people from residential care and youth work backgrounds
- Experience supporting young people with SEN and SEMH requirements
- Experience supporting young people in other capacities such as support work, mentoring, tutoring, sports coaching etc
- Desire to get into career in education
- Suitable employment based references with no safeguarding concerns
- Child Workforce DBS certificate on the update service (or be eligible and willing to apply for one)
The schools location in Trafford makes this opportunity ideal for candidates local to Stertford, Sale, Urmston, Flixton, Altrincham, Salford and the surrounding areas.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
