Teaching Assistant – Year 2

Location: Gorton, Manchester
Start Date: October 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time (8:30am – 3:30pm), Term Time Only
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Teaching Personnel is seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant to support a high-performing primary school in Gorton. This full-time opportunity is ideal for a graduate who is considering a future in education and is looking to gain meaningful classroom experience in a nurturing and academically ambitious school environment.

The successful candidate will join a well-resourced Year 2 class, working closely with the class teacher to support the delivery of both core and foundation subjects. You will contribute to the academic, social, and emotional development of pupils, while gaining valuable insight into primary teaching practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-class support to pupils across a range of abilities
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of lessons under the guidance of the class teacher
  • Deliver small-group or 1:1 interventions to support pupil progress
  • Support with classroom management and the creation of a positive learning environment
  • Contribute to the wider school community and ethos

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

  • A university degree (or be working towards one), ideally in education or a related field
  • Experience working with children (in a school, tutoring, volunteering, or similar setting)
  • A genuine interest in pursuing a career in teaching or education
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting young learners
  • A Level 2 Safeguarding qualification (or willingness to complete training provided by Teaching Personnel)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
