1 to 1 Teaching Assistant

Position: 1:1 Teaching Assistant – WN3, Wigan
Contract: Temporary – Full-Time & Part-Time Opportunities Available
Start Date: September 2025
Teaching Personnel are working closely with a friendly and inclusive primary school in the WN3 area of Wigan who are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025.
In this role, you will work closely with an individual pupil to provide tailored learning and pastoral support, helping them to engage fully in school life and achieve their potential. The role will involve adapting activities, encouraging independence, and working alongside the class teacher and SENCO to ensure the pupil’s needs are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with specific learning needs.
- Adapt and deliver activities to suit the pupil’s learning style and abilities.
- Support the pupil’s emotional and social development, promoting confidence and independence.
- Assist with implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies.
- Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and other support staff.
Requirements:
- Experience supporting children with SEND or additional learning needs.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting learning.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
