Teaching Assistant
Job description
A primary school in Rochdale is currently seeking a caring, proactive, and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. Teaching Personnel has been contacted directly to help find the right candidate for this important role.
About the Role:
As a Year 4 Teaching Assistant, you will collaborate closely with the class teacher to support children’s learning and development during their first year of Key Stage 2. Your responsibilities will include providing one-to-one support, assisting with small group activities, and helping to create an engaging and welcoming classroom environment. Your contribution will be key in helping children settle into school life and develop the skills they need to thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Year 4 teacher in planning, delivering, and assessing lessons.
- Provide targeted support to individual students and small groups to reinforce learning.
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
- Assist children with diverse learning needs, including those with additional support requirements or English as an additional language.
- Contribute to positive classroom management and a supportive learning atmosphere.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues to support overall class development.
About You:
- Experience working with young children, ideally in a primary school setting.
- A positive, proactive attitude with a genuine passion for supporting children’s success.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to children’s learning and well-being.
- Dedication to fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment for all students.
- A Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is preferred but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
