Teaching Assistant for Autism - Secondary SEND School

Teaching Personnel are working with a specialist SEND school in Newcastle to recruit a full time Teaching Assistant on a temporary basis, the role will be held for the duration of the Summer term however you will have access to further work opportunities and a permanent contact is likely to be offered to the right candidate.

The role will commence after the Easter holidays, the successful candidate will be supporting pupils with Autism ranging from moderate to severe between the ages of 11 and 16. You will be working with students on a 1:1 and small group basis and will have the full support of the class teacher. You will be involved in a variety of curriculum subject lessons and will mainly be supporting with behaviour and class focus. Experience from mainstream and SEND schools are welcomed and any relevant experience from other settings is also accepted, for example care or youth work. You will be passionate about working with pupils with SEND and will have a patient and nurturing manner. Qualifications such as a Teaching Assistant certificate will benefit you in this role.
