Support Worker - Chapel Allerton, Leeds
I am currently looking for Support Workers in the Chapel Allerton area of Leeds to work on a full-time and part-time basis at one of our Special Educational Needs Schools. Whether you have worked in healthcare, mental health, autism, with challenging behaviour or maybe you have a background in psychology, childminidng and coaching, this could be an excellent opportunity for you to further your skills and enter the education sector.
As a valued Support Worker, you’ll be helping students you support to be independent by helping them engage with learning at all levels. Predominantly working one to one with students you will have to be patient, understanding, empathetic and be willing to assist with personal care needs. Students level of ability range from working on communication and sensory learning to accessing areas of the mainstream curriculum.
As a Support Worker you will be required to:
- Be encouraging and enthusiastic towards learning
- Work off your own initiative to assist students in activities
- Be comfortable with personal care
- Assist during specialist therapy sessions such as physiotherapy and speech and language therapy
- Establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and responding to individual needs
- Deal effectively with challenging behaviour using de-escalation techniques
- Have excellent Numeracy and Literacy skills
- Hold a DBS on the Update service or be willing to apply for one
- Partake in CPD Training that will enable you to support students fully
