Specialist TA required in Chorley secondary school

This vacancy has now expired.

Job description

  • Are you available for work starting from Tuesday 17th April (5 days a week)?

  • Are you seeking a Support Assistant role?

  • Have you successfully completed any training in mobility or do you have experience supporting a wheelchair using student?

I am working on behalf of a mainstream secondary school in Chorley, who are seeking a TA to support a student in Year 8 who suffers from Cerebral Palsy and uses a wheelchair to support himself around school. The school have described the pupil as a welcoming and 'full of life' young man who is eager to learn and get on with normal day to day tasks as much as physically possible.

The school are looking for someone who has undergone mobility training and/or who has experience of supporting a student in a wheelchair previously. Ideally, they are seeking a male TA due to the fact you may be required to assist the pupil with bathroom duties and getting changed for PE lessons. Although he is very much capable to go to the bathroom himself and get changed, there may be times where assistance is required. However, if you are a female TA and you fit the criteria above please still get in touch as they by no means want to rule you out.

This role is to start on Tuesday 17th April and the working hours will be a normal school day (08:45am - 3:20pm). This position is 5 days a week and is on-going for the foreseeable future. The school cannot give a specific end date on this position but have asked that, ideally, the candidate is available until May half term, at least.

The school is easily accessible via public transport and has excellent on site parking facilities. This is an 'Outstanding' secondary school based in Chorley where students achieve results above national average.
