ASC Support Assistant
Job description
Role: ASC Support – 1:1 with Year 4 Child – Full Time Role from June to July 2024 (short-term cover)
Location: Litherland Primary School
Work Times: 30 hours per week across 5 days (working time: 8.45am – 3.15pm)
Pay Rate: £12.90-13.50 per hour.
A school in Litherland have approached Teaching Personnel, Darwen to source and appoint a Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a child who is diagnosed with high functioning Autism. In terms of needs, the child is currently working in a Year 4 class. The child struggles to work in line with the Year 4 lesson objectives and so he becomes highly frustrated when he cannot access the Curriculum. He is sensitive to sensory needs and is keen to keep to a routine.
The SENCO is very passionate and hands on with the children on her register and is keen to appoint members of staff who are qualified and experienced in working with high functioning children with Autism. She will be keen to speak to potential candidates who can demonstrate they can use a variety of techniques and strategies to ensure the child progresses socially and academically.
The school is in the centre of Litherland and is a smaller than average-sized primary school. The proportion of pupils supported through school action is below average. The school meets the government’s current floor standards, which set the minimum expectations for pupils’ attainment and progress The school aims to provide a stimulating learning environment where all children can thrive within a culture of respect for all. This role will be start after the May half-term (Monday 3rd June) and run for the full term until summer with views to look at a permanent contract. This will be a five-day per week position covering 30 hours. The rate of pay is competitive with other roles of this sort, so is a very good opportunity.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
