SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Speke, L24

Contract Type: Temporary (with the potential to go permanent)

Hours: Full Time

Start Date: January 2026

Pay Rate: £13.75 to £14.50 per hour (depending on experience)

A forward-thinking and inclusive primary school in Speke is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. Role Responsibilities:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of special educational needs including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and SEMH.
  • Implement effective strategies to support learning, emotional regulation, and social development.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and pastoral team to ensure inclusive access to the curriculum.
  • Contribute to the creation of a positive and engaging learning environment.
  • Support pupils with EHCPs and help monitor progress against individual targets.


The Ideal Candidate:

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting children with SEN in a primary school setting.
  • Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrates a calm, patient, and consistent approach to behaviour management.
  • Is confident delivering interventions and adapting strategies to meet individual needs.
  • Has excellent communication skills and builds strong relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
  • Holds an up-to-date DBS on the Update Service (or is willing to apply for one).
