SEMH Teacher – Permanent Position
Location: Thrapston

A highly reputable, award-winning group of special educational needs (SEN) schools is seeking a passionate and resilient SEMH Teacher to join the permanent teaching team at one of their specialist schools in Thrapston. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, supporting both their academic progress and emotional wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, deliver, and adapt high-quality lessons to meet the diverse needs of pupils with SEMH requirements.

• Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and personalised behaviour support strategies.

• Monitor and assess pupil progress, adjusting approaches to achieve positive outcomes.

• Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, families, and external agencies to provide holistic support.

• Promote a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

• Encourage pupils’ personal development, resilience, and social skills.

Requirements:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

• Proven experience teaching pupils with SEMH needs, ideally within a specialist or alternative provision setting.

• Strong understanding of SEMH strategies, behaviour management techniques, and trauma-informed practice.

• Ability to differentiate teaching to suit varied learning styles and abilities.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.

• Resilience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students.

• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
