Job description

Teaching Assistant – Permanent Position
Location: Thrapston

A highly reputable, award-winning group of special educational needs (SEN) schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join the permanent staff team at one of their specialist schools in Thrapston. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting children and young people with a range of special educational needs and disabilities, helping them to achieve their full potential in a safe, supportive, and inspiring learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and small group support to pupils, both in and out of the classroom.

  • Assist teachers in planning, preparing, and delivering engaging lessons tailored to pupils’ needs.

  • Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.

  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and social development.

  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure the best outcomes for each pupil.

  • Assist with monitoring and recording pupil progress.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an SEN setting.

  • Understanding of special educational needs and a commitment to inclusive education.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils.

  • Ability to work well as part of a team and follow guidance from teaching staff.

  • A flexible and proactive approach to supporting learning and behaviour.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
