SEMH Teacher – Permanent Position
Location: Northampton
A highly reputable, award-winning group of special educational needs (SEN) schools is seeking a passionate and resilient SEMH Teacher to join the permanent teaching team at one of their specialist schools in Northampton. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, empowering them to achieve their full potential in a nurturing and structured learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Plan, deliver, and adapt lessons to meet the needs of learners with SEMH requirements.

Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
-
Monitor and record progress, ensuring learning goals are met and reviewed regularly.
-
Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, parents, and external agencies to provide holistic care and education.
-
Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing in line with the school’s ethos.
-
Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
Requirements:
-
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
-
Proven experience working with pupils who have SEMH needs, ideally in a specialist or alternative provision setting.

In-depth understanding of SEMH strategies, behaviour management, and trauma-informed practice.
-
Strong ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students and colleagues.
-
Skilled at differentiating lessons to meet varied learning styles and abilities.
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
-
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
