SEN Teacher
Job description
An established and nurturing Alternative Provision based in Thrapston is currently seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Teacher to join their permanent staff team from September 2025.
This specialist setting supports children and young people with a range of social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, alongside other complex learning difficulties. The ideal candidate will be committed to making a real difference in the lives of pupils who require an individualised and trauma-informed approach to learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering tailored teaching and learning to meet the diverse needs of pupils with SEND.
- Planning, differentiating, and adapting the curriculum to ensure accessibility and engagement.
- Creating a safe, supportive, and stimulating classroom environment.
- Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, including support staff, therapists, and external agencies.
- Monitoring progress and maintaining clear, concise records and reporting.
- Implementing strategies to support behaviour management and emotional regulation.
Requirements for the Role:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, or equivalent.
- Proven experience working with children and young people with SEN, particularly SEMH, ASC, ADHD, or other complex needs.
- A strong understanding of alternative provision and inclusive education approaches.
- The ability to build positive and respectful relationships with students.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and resilience.
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience working within an Alternative Provision, PRU, or specialist setting.
- Additional qualifications in SEN or therapeutic approaches.
- Team Teach or other relevant behaviour management training.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
