SEN Teacher

A well-established Alternative Provision setting in High Wycombe is seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Teacher to join their permanent staff team from September 2025. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people with diverse and complex needs.

The successful candidate will be joining a supportive and experienced team committed to providing high-quality education and pastoral care to students who require additional support outside of mainstream settings. The role will involve planning and delivering personalised learning programmes that support both academic and emotional development, helping each pupil achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
• Plan and implement individual learning plans (ILPs) tailored to each student’s EHCP
• Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and external agencies to ensure holistic support
• Maintain accurate records of student progress, behaviour, and interventions
• Create a nurturing, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
• Foster positive relationships with students, parents/carers, and professionals
• Promote and model positive behaviour management strategies

Essential Requirements:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS
• Proven experience teaching students with SEN, preferably in an alternative provision or specialist setting
• Strong understanding of a range of learning difficulties, including SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and MLD
• Ability to plan and deliver creative, individualised lessons that meet a wide range of learning needs
• Excellent behaviour management skills and a calm, empathetic approach
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable children and young people
• Resilience, adaptability, and a strong team ethic

Desirable Attributes:

• Additional qualifications in SEN, trauma-informed practice, or therapeutic approaches
• Familiarity with restorative approaches and de-escalation techniques
• Experience working with multi-agency teams
