  • 1:1 and small group supporting [primary pupils with social, emotional and mental health difficulties

A pupil referral unit based in the London Borough of Ealing are looking for teaching assistants, youth workers and learning mentors who are looking to work in education.

The unit provides an alternative educational provision for primary aged students from Reception to Year 6 that have been permanently or temporality excluded from mainstream education. Students within the provision are referred by their mainstream settings or by local authority agencies. Some pupils attend on a part-time basis, while others attend every day because they have been permanently excluded and need a full-time placement.


• Must be able to travel to Greenford/Hanwell area (West London)

• Must be able to work Monday – Friday (8:15 -4:15pm) during school term time

• Must be confident in supporting primary children with Maths, English and core subjects

• Experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a mainstream school is beneficial

• Experience as a youth worker and/or learning mentor

• Interest in supporting children with challenging behaviour and/or mental health issues

• Degrees in English, Mathematics, Science highly sought after

• Team Teach de-escalation training is highly beneficial (offered at a subsidised rate through Teaching Personnel)

• Qualifications in Youth Work, Social Work, Psychology and/or Sociology is highly beneficial

A valid DBS with Child Only Workforce registered onto the update service is required in order to secure this job.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
