Teaching Personnel are currently working on the behalf a Junior school in South Derbyshire and I am looking to recruit a full-time behaviour mentor to support a pupil with attachment disorder and SEMH difficulties. The school are looking to place a behaviour mentor to work 1:1 with the pupil to implement boundaries and to provide a good positive role model for the pupil.
The role is to start as soon as possible on a temporary basis for a minimum of 6 weeks.
This role involves:
•Supporting behaviourally challenging students to engage in mainstream education
•Actively encouraging participation and attendance in school
•Build a good and positive relationship to build pupil confidence & self-esteem
•Supporting students in class and on a 1:1 basis outside of the class when required
•Being empathetic to the pupils requirements and implement boundaries where necessary
The school places a great emphasis on the ability to work as part of a team and being adaptable to the pupil you are working with but also within the school as a whole. Good use of initiative and flexibility, along with good recent experience are required for this role.
To be considered for this post you:
•Must have recent relevant experience supporting students that are disengaged from education from a variety of backgrounds such as youth work, residential care or a similar post in another school
•Will have a recognised qualification whether this is a degree (any specialism), TA qualification or social care
•Will have a desire to work with vulnerable pupils from diverse backgrounds
•Will have an affinity for working with challenging students aware of the rewards you can reap from such work
•Will have an up to date DBS certificate (Child Workforce) that is registered with the update service.
