Job description

Primary Teacher – Bury

We are seeking a dedicated, engaging and highly motivated Primary Teacher to join a thriving school community in Bury.
In this role, you will create a supportive, inclusive learning environment where pupils feel valued, challenged and inspired to achieve their full potential.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver well-structured, creative and differentiated lessons that meet the needs of pupils across varying abilities.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with pupils to promote engagement, resilience and a love of learning.
  • Assess progress regularly, using a range of formative and summative approaches to inform planning and ensure strong pupil outcomes.
  • Create a classroom culture that is inclusive, respectful and promotes positive behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, parents and external agencies to ensure consistent support for all children.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, school initiatives and wider school life where required.
  • Maintain accurate records, complete reports and ensure safeguarding responsibilities are upheld at all times.

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience teaching within a primary setting.
  • A warm, caring and enthusiastic approach to teaching and classroom management.
  • Strong understanding of the National Curriculum and effective strategies for raising attainment.
  • Full availability Monday–Friday during school hours.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and high-quality provision for all learners.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with staff and families.

Preferred but Not Essential

  • Experience supporting pupils with additional needs, including SEND, EAL or SEMH.
  • Confidence adapting teaching approaches to meet diverse learning styles.
  • Willingness to contribute to extracurricular clubs, interventions or enrichment activities.
  • Familiarity with effective use of assessment tools and progress tracking systems.

Vetting & Compliance

This position requires standard safer recruitment checks, including:

  • Two years of employment references.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (support can be provided if needed).
  • Overseas Police Checks if applicable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
