Job description

Early Years Teacher (SEN Specialism) – Nursery School, Bury

We are proud to be working in partnership with a nurturing and inclusive nursery school in Bury to recruit an experienced and passionate Early Years Teacher with an SEN specialism. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference during the most important stage of a child’s development.

You will work within a well-supported early years setting, teaching small groups of children with a range of additional needs and developmental differences, using play-based, child-led approaches.

The Role

  • Plan and deliver engaging, play-based learning in line with the EYFS framework

  • Support children with SEN including ASD, communication delays, sensory needs and developmental delay

  • Create a warm, structured and nurturing learning environment that promotes curiosity, confidence and emotional security

  • Lead early intervention strategies and contribute to individual support plans and EHCP targets

  • Work closely with nursery practitioners, SENCOs and external professionals such as speech and language therapists

  • Use a range of inclusive communication strategies (visuals, modelling, Makaton, sensory play)

  • Track progress through observations, assessments and learning journals

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS)

  • Strong experience within EYFS, ideally within SEN or specialist early years settings

  • A nurturing, patient and flexible teaching approach

  • Confident understanding of early intervention, inclusive practice and safeguarding

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
