SEN Teacher (with Leadership Experience & Core Subject Specialism)

Role: SEN Teacher (English / Maths / Science)
Location: Bury

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced SEN teacher who is ready to take on a key leadership role within a small, specialist secondary school. You will combine high-quality teaching in your subject area with wider responsibility for curriculum development, mentoring staff and contributing to the strategic direction of the school.

You will work with pupils who require a highly structured, nurturing and flexible approach, ensuring learning is engaging, meaningful and accessible.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Significant experience teaching pupils with SEN in a secondary or specialist setting
  • Senior leadership experience (e.g. Assistant Head, Head of Department, SEN lead) or readiness to step into a leadership role
  • A specialism in English, Maths or Science
  • Strong behaviour management grounded in relational and trauma-informed practice
  • Experience of adapting curriculum to meet individual needs

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality teaching in your subject area to small classes
  • Contribute to leadership, curriculum planning and whole-school development
  • Support and mentor colleagues, sharing best practice in SEN pedagogy
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, families and external professionals
  • Maintain high expectations for pupil progress, wellbeing and engagement

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
