Job description

SEN Early Years Teacher (QTS) – Bury, Greater Manchester

We are seeking a passionate and qualified SEN Early Years Teacher (QTS) to join a specialist SEN nursery setting in Bury. This role is ideal for a dedicated teacher who thrives in inclusive environments and is committed to supporting young children with a range of additional needs.

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, child-centred education, supporting early development, communication and emotional regulation through structured, play-based learning.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver and adapt engaging EYFS-aligned learning activities tailored to individual SEN and developmental profiles.

  • Lead and support personalised learning programmes, EHCP targets and early intervention strategies.

  • Create a calm, nurturing and structured classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour and emotional regulation.

  • Work closely with SENCOs, therapists and support staff to ensure a consistent, multidisciplinary approach.

  • Monitor progress through observations, assessments and learning journals, ensuring accurate documentation.

  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, inclusion and best practice.


Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

  • Experience teaching in EYFS, SEN or specialist provision (or a strong interest in transitioning into SEN).

  • Strong understanding of inclusive practice, safeguarding and early childhood development.

  • Full availability Monday–Friday during nursery hours.

  • Ability to lead, support and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.


Preferred but Not Essential

  • Experience teaching children with autism, communication needs or sensory processing difficulties.

  • Knowledge of EHCPs, early intervention and SEN assessment frameworks.

  • Experience working within specialist SEN settings or alternative provisions.


Vetting & Compliance

This role requires standard safer recruitment checks, including:

  • Two years of employment references.

  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (support provided if required).

  • Overseas Police checks if applicable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
