School Caretaker – Afternoon Shift

Hours: 12:00pm – 6:00pm
Pay: £90 per day

We are recruiting a School Caretaker to join a friendly and welcoming primary school in the Cardiff Bay area, starting 20th January. This is an afternoon role, ideal for someone reliable, practical, and confident working independently within a school environment.

The caretaker will play a key role in ensuring the school site remains safe, secure, clean, and well-maintained, particularly during the afternoon and end-of-day period when pupils and staff are leaving the building.

Key Responsibilities

• Opening and locking up the school premises

• Ensuring the site is secure at all times, including gates and doors

• Carrying out general cleaning and tidying duties across communal areas

• Maintaining a safe environment for pupils, staff, and visitors

• Conducting basic health and safety checks around the school

• Identifying and reporting any maintenance or safety issues to the school

• Supporting with ad-hoc site tasks as required

The Ideal Candidate

• Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy

• Comfortable working independently

• Takes pride in keeping environments clean, organised, and safe

• Has good awareness of health and safety

• Previous caretaking or site experience is beneficial but not essential

• Willing to work within a school setting and follow safeguarding procedures

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
