Job description

SEN Teacher – Bury

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate and highly skilled SEN Teacher to join a specialist provision in Bury.
In this role, you will deliver personalised learning experiences for pupils with a range of complex needs, ensuring each child receives the support, structure and challenge required to thrive.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver bespoke, engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to individual EHCP targets and SEN profiles.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships that promote regulation, engagement and positive behaviour.
  • Use a range of assessment approaches to track progress and inform personalised planning.
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, SENCOs and external agencies.
  • Create a safe, supportive and inclusive classroom environment that reflects individual needs.
  • Contribute to whole-school initiatives, behaviour frameworks and safeguarding requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, reports and ongoing monitoring in line with SEN guidance.

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience working with SEN, SEMH or specialist settings.
  • A calm, nurturing and resilient approach to behaviour and emotional needs.
  • Sound understanding of SEN strategies, differentiation and therapeutic approaches.
  • Full availability Monday–Friday.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred but Not Essential

  • Experience supporting pupils with autism, SEMH, communication needs or trauma-informed approaches.
  • Familiarity with sensory regulation strategies, visuals or alternative communication.
  • Background in specialist provisions or small-group intervention work.

Vetting & Compliance

Required:

  • Two years of references
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
  • Overseas police checks if applicable

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
