Maths Tutor
South Manchester

Are you an experienced tutor of Maths looking for a stimulating, supportive school to develop your career in?

We are seeking a tutor with strong Mathematics and numeracy skills and a professional approach to provide support to our partner school in South Manchester. The school works tirelessly to ensure that all students leave the academy with the knowledge and skills to fulfil their full potential. We are therefore looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual, with suitable qualifications to independently tutor individuals and groups of pupils in order to accelerate their progress and learning and progress 8 scores.

The successful tutor with be working in close liaison with class teachers and the SENDCo to plan and deliver accelerated tutoring to ensure that pupils catch-up with their learning enabling them to do well and access the full curriculum. Students will be supported in small groups and on a 1:1 basis. We are looking for a tutor with experience of delivering the KS3 and KS4 curriculum to prepare the students for the upcoming exam periods.

This position would be ideal for teachers that are not looking for full classroom teaching but are looking for small group and intervention work. We also welcome applications from Maths graduates and individuals who are thinking about a future career in teaching.

Day to day task, amongst others, will include:

  • Establishing good relationships with students, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs;
  • Being a member of a Teaching and Learning team that plans and delivers a key part of the Mathematics curriculum for the students;
  • Assisting in the preparation of learning materials and the learning environment, including the display of students' work;
  • Supervising and supporting students, ensuring their safety and access to learning;
  • Supporting the school's values and ethos by contributing to the development and implementation of policies practices and procedures.

In September 2010 the Academy moved into a £20 million state-of-the-art building and to accommodate a growing student population we have expanded further with a £10 million project, which concluded in October 2018. Rated by Ofsted in April 2015 as a good school, with many outstanding features, we are therefore looking for exceptional and inspiring individuals to help them achieve this ambition.

The school is located near to Baguley and Timperley, a short drive from exit 4 on the M56 and easily accessible via the Manchester Airport Metro links from the city centre and public bus routes. The school also has a large free car park for all staff members.
