Computer Science Teacher
North Derbyshire secondary school seeking to appoint Computer Science teacher for summer term.
This modern secondary school just outside of the Tameside area is looking to bring on a Computer Science Teacher with an element of Media on an initial temporary basis for the summer term, with the opportunity to become permanent in September.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Computer Science with elements of Media to a timetable of classes in years 7-10. The school operates out of modern, brand new facilities and prides itself on being a vibrant and warm place for staff and students. The school describes their curriculum as broad and flexible. Their belief that students with different interests and abilities reflects the balanced curriculum on offer, as well as the extensive alternative learning experiences and extra-curricular activities on offer. The Computer Science curriculum in particular is described as aiming to develop student’s ability to think Computationally.
The school has made great improvements since receiving a disappointing Ofsted report rating in 2018 and has since been praised by Ofsted for its dedication to remove the poor designation. The school was also praised by Ofsted for their work managing the return to full education for students in September 2020.
To be eligible to apply for this role candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status in the UK (QTS)
- Experience teaching secondary school Computer Science
- School based references with no safeguarding concerns
- In date fully enhanced DBS certificate or eligibility to apply for one
The schools location in North Derbyshire makes it an ideal opportunity for a candidate local to the area, but candidates could also commute from neighbouring Ashton-Under-Lyne and the towns surrounding it. The school is also a short walk from a number of local train station.
