A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work as an autistic support assistant at a recently Ofsted graded “good” specialist school in Barnsley; the school is apart of The National Autistic Society and have autistic accreditation and are looking for someone with the passion and will be committed to supporting children with autism (ASC) to access the curriculum in a long term role.
We are particularly looking for teaching assistants who have an interest in Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) and are keen to work with pupils with ASC at specialist through school in within the primary setting in Barnsley.
The schools aim is to provide an inclusive, well structured learning environment which offers high quality teaching and care where pupils can learn to live confidently and happily with their autism.
Experience in a school is desired but not essential as we also look for experience in areas such as social care and youth work. Particular personal or professional experience of supporting individuals with Autism is highly desirable as is an understanding of the complexities related to the behaviour in this condition.
A Studio 3 similar to a team teach qualification or other relevant training would be an advantage but again is not essential as Teaching Personnel have the facility to be able to offer training and have a range of CPD courses available throughout the year.
