Teaching Assistant

Our client sixth form college situated in the inner city area of central Manchester is looking to recruit a teaching assistant to start with them in January at the beginning of the new academic year. The successful teaching assistant will be required to start with them from Monday 6^th January for the remainder of the academic year until July. This appointment will initially be via Teaching Personnel on a supply basis with the opportunity to progress onto a school based contract after 1 term. This will give the appointed Teaching Assistant the chance to get a feel for the college and test it’s suitability out before committing to a long term position.

The role of the teaching assistant at this highly reputable and well known sixth form college is to support students in lessons, assist those who are identified as having additional needs and support those who have English as an additional language. The successfully appointed teaching assistant will therefore have to be adaptable and motivated to succeed in working with these older students in a college environment.

This role will suit an individual with prior experience of supporting within an educational environment as a teaching assistant, behaviour mentor, learner mentor or cover supervisor or someone who is looking into a teaching position in the future. This could be in a youth work environment, primary school, secondary school or college environment.

Key aspects of this teaching assistant role:

• Full time teaching assistant required starting in January for the remainder of the academic year
• Pay will range between GBP1200 - GBP1400 per month
• Hours at this college are 8:30am – 4pm each day
• Support students with classroom support as well as work with those in small groups

The college is located in the central Manchester area close to the central train stations. It is therefore easy for any teaching assistants to get to this college utilising the public transport network.
