SEN Support Workers required
A fantastic residential school in Shillingstone are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated support workers to join their team.
This SEN school caters for pupils between the ages of 7-19 with autism and associated difficulties. Located in the beautiful countryside with great on site facilities.
The role of Support Worker primarily involves working in the residential area providing guidance, support and encouragement to young people in a variety of settings including classrooms, education and off site activities. The job involves enabling students to develop by providing physical and emotional support.
Your main duties and responsibilities will include:
- Building professional relationships with the young people and other staff
- Doing everything possible to maintain a safe, clean and enjoyable environment to live and work in
- Learning about the young peoples specific needs and help meet those needs in the most appropriate way
- To support the young people with their personal cleanliness, general hygiene and appearance, this may include intimate care
Important qualities of this role are being a good role model and conducting yourself in a professional manner at all times whilst on duty or representing the company at outside events. To do this job effectively you will need:
- An understand of Autism and the difficulties it can bring
- Ability to follow a work pattern (staff can work day shifts OR night shifts, you will not be expected to work both)
- Ability to communicate clearly and easily with young people and others
- Awareness of the general health, safety and welfare of young people
