SEND & SEMH Teachers & Support Staff
Job description
SEND & SEMH Teachers & Support Staff | East Sussex
Experienced in specialist education, or ready to bring your skills into a different kind of classroom?
I’m recruiting Teachers, Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants and specialist support staff for SEND and SEMH settings across East Sussex throughout the 2026/27 academic year.
I work with primary and secondary schools around Hastings, Battle, Eastbourne, Hailsham, Seaford, Newhaven, Lewes and surrounding areas, supporting flexible cover and longer-term placements.
What opportunities could suit you?
Roles regularly include:
-
SEND & SEMH Teachers
-
Teaching Assistants and LSAs
-
Behaviour & Engagement Mentors
-
1:1 Support
-
Pastoral & Intervention roles
Some vacancies require established specialist experience. Others can suit people with relevant backgrounds in mainstream education, care, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring or tutoring.
Experience building relationships, adapting your communication and helping young people through challenging situations can all transfer well.
A conversation about the right fit
Before moving into recruitment, I worked directly within SEND education myself.
I know that specialist schools can feel very different from one another. The pupils, routines, teaching approaches and staff teams all shape the experience.
We’ll talk about your strengths, the young people you enjoy working with and what you want from your next role. From there, we can explore suitable settings and discuss any training that could support your development.
Pay & practical information
Teaching Assistant and LSA opportunities are paid from £92.60 per day, with qualified teaching roles paid to scale where applicable. CPD and professional development are available.
You’ll need an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service. If you don’t currently hold one, you’ll need to apply through us and join the Update Service. I’ll support you through the process, with the associated cost covered by the applicant.
We’ll also require your full employment and education history and references covering 24 months of employment in total where possible, prioritising recent and relevant employment.
Interested?
Apply and tell me about your experience, availability and where you’re happy to travel.
Let’s see which SEND opportunities across East Sussex could suit your next step.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
