SEND & SEMH Teachers & Support Staff
Job description
SEND & SEMH Teachers & Support Staff | East Sussex
Your next step in education could look different — a new setting, a different age group or your first move into SEND.
I’m recruiting Teachers, Teaching Assistants, LSAs and specialist support staff for SEND and SEMH schools across East Sussex throughout the 2026/27 academic year.
I work with primary and secondary settings around Hastings, Battle, Eastbourne, Hailsham, Seaford, Newhaven, Lewes and surrounding areas, supporting flexible cover and longer-term placements.
Who am I looking for?
Opportunities regularly include:
-
SEND & SEMH Teachers
-
Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Assistants
-
Behaviour & Engagement Mentors
-
1:1 Support
-
Pastoral & Intervention staff
Some vacancies require specialist experience. Others can suit people bringing relevant skills from mainstream education, care, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring or tutoring.
Finding a setting that suits you
Before moving into recruitment, I worked directly within SEND education myself.
I know how much the work can vary. Supporting academic learning might sit alongside helping a young person communicate their needs, build trust, develop independence or return to learning after a difficult moment.
Different schools also suit different people. We’ll talk about your experience, the environments you enjoy and what you’re looking for before exploring suitable opportunities.
Pay & practical information
Teaching Assistant and LSA opportunities are paid from £92.60 per day, with qualified teaching positions paid to scale where applicable. You’ll also have access to CPD and professional development.
You’ll need an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service. If you don’t currently hold one, you’ll need to apply through us and join the Update Service. I’ll support you through the process, with the associated cost covered by the applicant.
We’ll require your full employment and education history and references covering 24 months of employment in total where possible, prioritising recent and relevant employment.
Interested?
Apply and tell me about your experience, availability and where you’re happy to travel.
Whether SEND is already your specialism or something you’d like to explore, let’s discuss your next step.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
