SEND Teaching Assistants
Job description
SEND Teaching Assistants | Hastings | Develop Your Skills with Thrive
Interested in SEND support work around Hastings — and keen to develop practical skills for the classroom?
I’m welcoming interest from Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants and people with relevant transferable experience who would like to explore future opportunities in specialist education around Hastings.
I’m particularly interested in hearing from people open to completing Thrive Approach: Introductory Skills & Strategies, available through Teaching Personnel.
What could the work involve?
SEND support can include helping pupils access lessons, providing 1:1 support, developing communication and independence, and helping young people regulate their emotions and engage with learning.
Building trust, remaining calm and maintaining consistent boundaries are all important parts of the work.
Previous SEND experience can be useful, but relevant backgrounds also include mainstream education, care, youth work, sports coaching, tutoring and mentoring.
Why Thrive?
Thrive Approach: Introductory Skills & Strategies introduces practical, relationship-based approaches to supporting pupils’ emotional and developmental needs.
It can help educators understand the reasons behind behaviour and consider how their responses can support engagement and a calm, nurturing classroom environment.
The training is optional, but a specialist setting in Hastings particularly values educators who have completed it. Taking part could strengthen your suitability for future opportunities while helping prepare you for work across other SEND schools.
If you’re interested, we can discuss the course and how it could support your development.
A conversation about your next step
Having worked within SEND education myself before moving into recruitment, I understand that the right setting matters.
We’ll talk about your experience, availability and the young people you feel most confident supporting. This is an expression of interest for future opportunities, with placements dependent on school requirements and suitability.
Pay & practical information
Teaching Assistant and LSA opportunities are paid from £92.60 per day.
You’ll need an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service. If you don’t currently hold one, you’ll need to apply through us and join the Update Service. I’ll support you through the process, with the associated cost covered by the applicant.
We’ll require your full employment and education history and references covering 24 months of employment in total where possible, prioritising recent and relevant employment.
Interested?
Apply and tell me about your experience, availability and interest in SEND work around Hastings.
Please also let me know if you’d be interested in completing the Thrive introductory course.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
