Special Education Roles
Job description
SEND & SEMH Teaching and Support Roles | Teachers & Support Staff | East Sussex
Already working in SEND, or ready to explore where your experience could take you? I’d like to hear from you.
I’m recruiting Teachers, Teaching Assistants, LSAs and specialist support staff for SEND and SEMH schools across East Sussex throughout the 2026/27 academic year.
I work with primary and secondary settings around Hastings, Battle, Eastbourne, Hailsham, Seaford, Newhaven, Lewes and surrounding areas, with opportunities ranging from flexible cover to long-term placements.
Who am I looking for?
I regularly recruit for:
-
SEND & SEMH Teachers
-
Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Assistants
-
Behaviour & Engagement Mentors
-
1:1 Support
-
Pastoral & Intervention roles
Some vacancies need experienced specialist staff. Others can suit people bringing transferable experience from mainstream education, care, youth work, sports coaching, tutoring or mentoring.
If you’re used to building trust, adapting your approach and supporting young people through challenges, your experience could be relevant.
A role that suits your strengths
Before moving into recruitment, I worked within SEND education myself.
I know the work can be challenging, varied and rewarding. You might be supporting academic progress alongside communication, emotional regulation, confidence and independence.
I also know that finding the right setting makes a difference.
We’ll talk about your experience, the environments you enjoy and what you want from your next role. Whether you’re looking for a fresh challenge or your first opportunity in specialist education, that conversation helps me understand which schools could suit you.
Pay & practical details
Teaching Assistant and LSA opportunities are paid from £92.60 per day, with qualified teaching roles paid to scale where applicable. CPD and professional development are also available.
You’ll need an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service. If you don’t currently hold one, you’ll need to apply through us and join the Update Service. I’ll support you through the process, with the associated cost covered by the applicant.
We’ll also require your full employment and education history and references covering 24 months of employment in total where possible, prioritising recent and relevant employment.
Interested?
Apply and tell me about your experience, where you’re based and what you’re looking for next.
Let’s see which SEND opportunities across East Sussex could be a good fit.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
