Teaching Personnel are working closely with a specialist SEND school based in Brighton who are looking for passionate and reliable educators to join their team as a Child Friend on a full-time basis.

The school are seeking individuals who can start immediately and are confident supporting children and young people with a variety of additional needs.

 The Role

As a Child Friend, you will play an important part in supporting pupils throughout their school day. You will work closely with children on both a 1:1 and small-group basis, helping them access their learning while supporting their social, emotional and personal development.

This role is all about building positive and trusting relationships with pupils and becoming someone they can rely on for encouragement, consistency and support.

Your responsibilities will include:

•  Building strong and positive relationships with SEND pupils

•  Providing 1:1 and small-group support

•  Helping pupils engage with classroom activities and their learning

•  Supporting communication, social skills and confidence

•  Acting as a positive and consistent role model

•  Adapting your approach to meet individual SEND needs

•  Supporting pupils with their emotional wellbeing and development

•  Taking a proactive approach and using your initiative throughout the school day

•  Working closely with teachers, support staff and other SEND professionals

Experience: SEND skills and knowledge desirable
DBS: Child-Only Enhanced DBS required

 Who Are We Looking For?

The school are particularly interested in individuals who are enthusiastic, proactive, patient and resilient. You should be confident building rapport with children and young people and passionate about helping pupils with additional needs reach their potential.

Previous experience within SEND, education, care, support work, youth work or another child-focused setting would be highly beneficial.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
