Date posted : 22/10/26

£92 - 200 per day

Job description

SEND & SEMH Teachers & Support Staff | East Sussex

Looking for a new setting, a fresh challenge or your first opportunity in specialist education? Let’s talk about what could suit you.

I’m recruiting Teachers, Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants and specialist support staff for SEND and SEMH schools across East Sussex.

I work with primary and secondary settings around Hastings, Battle, Eastbourne, Hailsham, Seaford, Newhaven, Lewes and surrounding areas, with flexible and longer-term opportunities throughout the 2026/27 academic year.

Who am I looking for?

Opportunities regularly include:

  • SEND & SEMH Teachers

  • Teaching Assistants and LSAs

  • Behaviour & Engagement Mentors

  • 1:1 Support

  • Pastoral & Intervention staff

Some roles require previous specialist experience. Others can suit people bringing skills from mainstream education, care, youth work, sports coaching, tutoring or mentoring.

If you’ve supported young people to build confidence, manage difficult situations or engage with something they find challenging, you may already have experience worth exploring.

Why the right setting matters

Before moving into recruitment, I worked directly within SEND education myself.

I know that supporting young people can involve much more than helping them complete their work. Communication, emotional regulation, trust and independence can all be part of the school day.

I also know that specialist settings vary considerably. The age group, pupils’ needs, school approach and staff team can all shape your experience.

When we speak, I’ll want to understand what you enjoy, where your strengths lie and what you’re looking for next. That helps us focus on opportunities that make sense for you.

Pay, development & practical details

Teaching Assistant and LSA opportunities are paid from £92.60 per day, with qualified teaching roles paid to scale where applicable.

You’ll also have access to CPD and professional development, including opportunities to develop your understanding of supporting pupils within specialist education.

You’ll need an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service. If you don’t currently hold one, you’ll need to apply through us and join the Update Service. I’ll support you through the process, with the associated cost covered by the applicant.

We’ll also require your full employment and education history and references covering 24 months of employment in total where possible, prioritising recent and relevant employment.

Interested?

Apply and tell me a little about your experience, availability and where you’re happy to travel.

Whether you’re established in SEND or considering a move into the sector, let’s explore your options across East Sussex.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
