SEND Teaching Assistants & Learning Support Assistants
Job description
SEND Teaching Assistants & Learning Support Assistants | Lewes, Newhaven & Seaford
Looking for support work where patience, communication and getting to know each pupil really matter?
I’m recruiting Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants and 1:1 support staff interested in specialist education around Lewes, Newhaven, Seaford and surrounding areas.
I work with primary and secondary SEND settings, with flexible and longer-term opportunities throughout the 2026/27 academic year.
Supporting pupils throughout their school day
Your role could involve helping pupils access classroom activities, supporting communication, developing independence or working with individuals and small groups.
You might also help a young person manage a transition, settle after a difficult moment or build confidence with something they’ve previously avoided.
You’ll work alongside teachers and the wider school team, following agreed approaches and sharing observations that help everyone understand the pupil’s needs.
Do you need specialist experience?
Some vacancies require it, but others can suit applicants with experience from mainstream schools, care, youth work, tutoring, mentoring or sports coaching.
I’m interested in people who can build relationships, take guidance and remain consistent when things become challenging.
Having worked in SEND myself before moving into recruitment, I know how important it is to find a setting that suits you. We’ll discuss your experience and preferences before exploring suitable roles.
Pay & practical information
Teaching Assistant and LSA opportunities are paid from £92.60 per day, with access to CPD and professional development.
You’ll need an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service. If you don’t currently hold one, you’ll need to apply through us and join the Update Service. I’ll support you through the process, with the associated cost covered by the applicant.
We’ll also require your full employment and education history and references covering 24 months of employment in total where possible, prioritising recent and relevant employment.
Interested?
Apply and tell me about your experience, availability and where you’re able to travel.
Whether you already work in SEND or are considering your first move into specialist education, I’d be interested in hearing from you.
