Class Teacher (Intervention) needed in NG11 area

  • Opportunity to work in an OFSTED 'Good' school
  • Temp - perm contract - £120-£140 per day.
  • Once moving onto a contract with the school - MPS/UPR plus a SEN allowance

Starting September 2017

We are looking for a part time intervention teacher with a firm but nurturing approach, a relentless focus on pupil progress and high expectations of pupil learning and behaviour. The school in question is a special academy in the City of Nottingham for 112 pupils with moderate and complex learning difficulties. The age range is from 5-19 years with a range of ability extending from P6 – L6. Many pupils have autism and some have SEMH needs.

The successful Teacher will be responsible for the identification, management and implementation of interventions to support learning and development in all areas across the academy. You will be required to lead interventions in maths, English and a range of other subjects and will be responsible for managing a small team of teaching assistants and for planning and organising any relevant training.

You will have a firm but nurturing approach, a relentless focus on pupil progress and high expectations of pupil learning and behaviour. The post will involve the collation of progress information, monitoring and reporting progress to SLT and governors. You will need a positive approach to modifying challenging behaviour through the delivery of consistent behaviour management programmes.

The school are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic teacher with a passion for teaching children with SEND. No additional qualifications in SEND are required, but some experience in teaching children with SEND whether in a special or a mainstream setting would be desirable.

You will have an understanding of a range of intervention strategies which boost pupils’ learning and play an important part in enabling them to make the maximum amount of progress possible. You will be committed, hardworking and enthusiastic with the knowledge, skills and understanding required to support challenging pupils to achieve their full potential.
