SEMH Teaching Assistant – Primary Support Role

We are looking for compassionate and resilient individuals to join a specialist education setting in Poole as a full-time SEMH Teaching Assistant.

The Role at a Glance
This is a FULL-time position with an immediate start, supporting primary-aged learners from 5 to 15 years old.

The working day is 8.45am to 4.15pm. You will work closely with teaching staff to provide structured support, help pupils regulate emotions, encourage positive engagement, and assist them in accessing education in a meaningful and supportive way.

Who We’re Looking For
Candidates must have at least 6 months childcare experience, particularly supporting children with SEN.

The right person will be calm under pressure, patient in approach, and confident in building trusting, long-term relationships.

SEMH support requires empathy, structure, and the ability to stay consistent while adapting to each child’s individual strengths and challenges. Due to the school’s location, applicants must be able to drive.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
