An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a nurturing and inclusive primary setting in Poole.

This full-time position offers the chance to make a real difference in the lives of children aged 5 to 12 with additional needs, including Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.

 

About the Role
This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, from 8.45am to 3.30pm, with an immediate start available.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide tailored assistance to pupils who may need extra help managing emotions, developing confidence, and building positive relationships.

You will help create a calm and supportive classroom environment where every child feels valued, motivated, and understood.

Requirements
We are seeking an empathetic, patient, and proactive individual who has a genuine passion for helping children thrive.

Applicants must have at least six months of childcare experience, ideally supporting young people with SEN or SEMH needs.

You will need a calm and nurturing approach, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students and colleagues alike.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
