Science Intervention Tutor - Oldham

Are you a Science graduate looking to gain experience in a Secondary school? Do you want to support students through the upcoming tough exam period?

Teaching Personnel are working closely with one of our partner secondary schools in Oldham who are looking to employ a Science Intervention Tutor to start before the Easter holidays ideally, but are happy to wait for the ideal candidate. This exciting role will involve supporting the Science department through the busy and demanding exam period until the end of the academic year in the first instance.

  • Full time Science Intervention Tutor to start before Easter holidays
  • Competitive daily rates between £54-£70
  • Applications from graduates welcomed
  • Fantastic opportunity to gain classroom experience before a teacher training course

Our client secondary school is based in the leafy Saddleworth area of Oldham and was recently rated 'Good' by Ofsted again. The school itself is located close to a train station, and is accessible by car through the areas of Mossley as well as Lees. The school is well known and respected within the local community due to a strong climate for learning as well as links to many communal events.

"Community is at the heart of everything we do - we believe it is how learning happens best. We are building a school community that actively engages children, parents, carers and local partners in the learning, development and future of the young people at our school. As a dynamic educational hub, we are committed to transforming the lives of children, enhancing the prospects of families and providing a catalyst for community engagement." Headteacher.

As a Science Intervention Tutor at our partner school, you will be supporting small groups of identified students for targeted intervention. You will be expected to work with them on a 1:1 basis as well as in small group situations with the aim of supporting them to reach their full potential in Science. The students that have been targeted for this intervention may include those who have fallen behind in their studies, as well as students who are aiming for the level 8/9 grades and need a further boost to allow them to achieve that. Experience of working in Secondary schools previously is desirable but not essential.
