Job description
Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant (Level 3)
Location: Blackburn, Lancashire
Start date: Monday 3rd June 2024
Contract type: Full-time, temp-perm
A Secondary school in Blackburn are seeking individuals who have experience supporting students in their learning. If you are passionate about supporting young people, and students who require further development in their learning, then please continue to read!
As a Teaching Assistant specialising in SEMH, you will need to be resilient, have a good standard of education and good behaviour management skills. You will need to possess the skills and attributes to implement strategies and utilise de-escalation techniques to diffuse behavioral issues.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have knowledge of SEN and the safeguarding of children
- Have high expectations of students behaviour and clear strategies for working with students with challenging behaviour
- Have the ability to work independently with groups of, or individual, students
- Have experience of working with children with SEND and SEMH
Requirements:
- Experience working with children, and preferably students with additional needs
- Be comfortable working with children with SEND / SEMH
- Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willing to apply
- Strong work ethic and full-time availability

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
