2 MATHEMATICS SPECIALISTS NEEDED FOR JAN -AUGUST 2021 based in MERTHY TYDFIL SECONDARY SCHOOL (1 x Teacher, 1x Numeracy-based LSA/ HLTA. 3 DAYS A WEEK (can be extended into full weeks if that works better for you)
SUMMARY
- Based in Merthyr Tydfil
- Maths Teacher (3 -5 days a week)
- GBP138 a day. Teacher framework rate for initial trial period as this is a day to day rate. Longer term roles are more demanding in terms of work load so this should be reflected in your pay
- KS3 & 4
- Classroom management is essential, and enforcing covid safety procedures is essential
- Large number of Free School Meals and the pupils do not come from privileged backgrounds. A high percentage are close to being on poverty line
The school ideally want a shortlist asap in order to make a decision before Christmas so respond with your CV or even your contact details in an email and I will be in touch.
Because of it’s surrounding area, the school is instantly regarded as being ‘tough’ or ‘challenging’ with its behaviour. This school is living proof that low socio-economic income area does not reflect on the attitudes to learning the pupils who attend The behavioural ethos of the school has completely transformed since it’s local prolific status twenty-years ago.
- The role starts JANUARY 4 and is up until the end of July. The school want to see candidate profiles immediately with a view of meeting either in person (if safe to do so) or over Teams/ Zoom
- The role is 3 set days a week. If you are looking for full time work then you can support in other areas for those two days, or, if judged appropriately, go to another school for those remaining days to specifically teach maths
- You will be supported by the HLTA/ TA who can deliver pre-set work you’ve created in your absence. Which means you have time to plan, prepare and grade well thought-of assignments.
The schools also recognise how important it is for the teachers to be mindful of the domestic lives some of the come from, so the thought of an even longer Christmas period will be weighing on their minds.
The school enrols a large number of pupils with statements, medical needs and Non-English Speakers who will have separate ALN numeracy interventions for the most part, but a firm and confident grasp of ALN would be beneficial here. Behaviour, although on the up, is like the majority of schools- the pupils have suffered from a lack of consistency, constantly changing supply teachers (waiting for COVID tests, those shielding and of course all the other illnesses and regular ailments that strike this time of year, plus countless other factors which means that the demand for core subjects has never been higher.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
