Job description

The Role

You will deliver engaging, high-quality Chemistry lessons to students aged 11–16 (and/or 11–18), turning complex concepts into exciting discoveries. You’ll encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and confidence in the laboratory, while fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver inspiring Chemistry lessons aligned with the national curriculum

  • Lead practical experiments that develop investigative and analytical skills

  • Promote scientific thinking, problem-solving, and real-world applications of chemistry

  • Monitor, assess, and support student progress and achievement

  • Maintain high standards of laboratory safety and organisation

  • Contribute to curriculum development within the science department

  • Support extracurricular science activities, clubs, or enrichment opportunities

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (or equivalent)

  • Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for Chemistry

  • Confidence delivering practical, hands-on experiments

  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills

  • A creative, student-centred approach to teaching

  • Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
