SEND Primary Teaching Assistant (All Experience Levels Welcome)

We are recruiting a SEND Primary Teaching Assistant to join a warm and supportive primary school in North Manchester, where pupils with additional needs are supported to thrive in a calm, structured and nurturing environment. The school supports pupils with a range of needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs (SLCN), moderate learning difficulties and SEMH needs. Many pupils benefit from consistent routines, positive relationships and patient adult support to help them manage emotions, develop independence and access learning successfully.
You’ll work closely with an experienced team including class teachers, the SENCO, pastoral staff and skilled support assistants, with access to excellent facilities such as intervention spaces, sensory/regulation areas and well-resourced classrooms.
Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEND
- Help pupils access learning and stay engaged throughout the school day
- Support emotional regulation and behaviour using calm, consistent strategies
- Assist with EHCP targets and personalised support plans
- Support classroom routines, transitions and breaktimes
- Work closely with teachers and the SEND team to monitor progress and wellbeing
Requirements
- Experience with children/young people (schools, care, youth work, coaching or similar)
- A patient, nurturing and resilient approach
- A genuine passion for supporting pupils with SEND
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to support personal care if required
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
