SEN Teaching Assistant - Manchester
Do you thrive on supporting children with additional needs and making a real difference every day? Teaching Personnel is working with schools across the Greater Manchester area to recruit dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with needs such as Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and Physical Disabilities.
This role is perfect for someone who is patient, proactive and passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to learning in a supportive and inclusive environment.
The Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping pupils feel safe, understood and ready to learn. Working closely with teachers and SEN teams, you’ll provide tailored support that helps children reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 or small‑group support to pupils with SEN
- Support learning inside and outside the classroom, adapting activities where needed
- Assist pupils with emotional regulation, communication and social interaction
- Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs and support plans
- Use positive behaviour and trauma‑informed approaches to support engagement
- Promote independence, confidence and inclusion
- Monitor pupil progress and feedback to teachers and SEN staff
- Support with routines, transitions and sensory needs
What We’re Looking For
- Experience supporting children with SEN (school, care or youth work experience welcome)
- A calm, caring and resilient approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for working with children with additional needs
- Willingness to learn and develop within SEND education
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
