Job description

A small Bolton based secondary school is seeking a full-time Mathematics teacher, from September 2019 to cover two terms of a Maternity leave for a permanent member of staff.

The Headteacher and Head of Maths wish to appoint a skilled Mathematics practitioner with the passion and motivation required to deliver outstanding lessons to pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4. The department is highly successful and boasts access to state of the art resources, within modern facilities.

The Mathematics department has seen a full refurbishment across the classroom; creating new open plan learning spaces alongside intimate learning spaces. As the successful post-holder, you can expect to be joining a welcoming staff team consisting of four members of teaching staff working under the guidance of the Head of Maths. Your responsibilities as the incoming Mathematics teacher will include but may not be limited to;

  • Promoting an outstanding pedagogy across the school and demonstrating outstanding practice.
  • Identifying clear objectives and content within Mathematics for all pupils including how these will be taught, evaluated and assessed.
  • Organise a stimulating and inspiring learning environment.
  • Ensure regulations regarding Health and Safety are maintained both within the Mathematics department and the school.

The secondary school has just over 500 pupils on roll, aged 11-16, has seen outstanding development in all areas, which was highlighted by Ofsted and continues to triumph all challenges through the delivery of progressive, student centred learning. Bolton can be accessed via the M61 and the surrounding areas; Bury, Salford and Wigan. The school can also be accessed through various public transport options with links across Greater Manchester.
