Inclusion Support Worker – Offsite Learning Provision

Location: Tameside / Greater Manchester
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-time, term-time only
Daily Rate: £89 – £100 (PAYE, depending on experience)
Contract Length: Initially until July 2026, with opportunity for extension or permanent placement

About the Role:
A secondary school in Tameside is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Inclusion Support Worker to work with pupils receiving education through an offsite learning provision. These students are currently unable to access mainstream education due to barriers such as exclusion, behavioural challenges, or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

This role involves supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups, helping them re-engage with learning, manage their behaviour, and develop key life and academic skills. You will work both at the school and across community-based learning settings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored support to students aged 11–16 within offsite education centres or home tuition hubs.

• Build consistent, positive relationships with students who may be vulnerable or disengaged.

• Support the delivery of work set by the class teacher or coordinator in line with the National Curriculum.

• Monitor student progress, emotional wellbeing, and attendance.

• Act as a liaison between the offsite setting, school staff, parents/carers, and external agencies.

• Maintain records and contribute to individual support plans and risk assessments.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Experience supporting young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or in alternative education settings.

• A calm, confident and consistent approach with strong interpersonal skills.

• Knowledge of de-escalation strategies, restorative practice, and safeguarding procedures.

• A full driving licence and access to a vehicle (preferred, not essential).

• An enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one through Teaching Personnel).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
