Are you passionate about supporting young people in their education? We’re looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join secondary schools across Durham from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in students’ academic and personal development.
Role Overview:
As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll work alongside classroom teachers to provide tailored support to students, helping them stay focused, engaged, and confident in their learning.
Main Responsibilities:
- Support students in class, working one-to-one or with small groups
- Help maintain a well-managed, productive classroom environment
- Encourage student participation and help build confidence across subjects
- Assist with lesson preparation, classroom activities, and general admin tasks
- Foster positive relationships with students and staff
We’re Looking For Educators Who Are:
- Supportive and encouraging, with a genuine interest in helping students thrive
- Strong communicators who can work closely with both pupils and teaching staff
- Organised, reliable, and proactive in their approach to classroom tasks
- Adaptable and calm under pressure, able to respond to a range of needs and situations
Requirements:
- Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
- At least two references from a recent professional role
- Previous experience working with young people in an educational or similar setting (desirable)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
