Our partner school in East Cheshire are looking to appoint a Hearing Impaired Learning Support Assistant on a full time basis as soon as possible. This is a temporary role until the end of the academic year with the potential to become a permanent position in September 2021. The role will involve supporting children and young people with hearing impairments across the years 7-11 to ensure they receive the same level of education as their peers and do not fall behind due to their impairment.

The right candidate would be joining a large support team in a large and incredibly well rated Cheshire based secondary school. As a Hearing Impaired Learning Support Assistant you’ll be required to work alongside regular classroom teachers, school senior leaders and SEN coordinators to provide one-on-one support in and out of the classroom, assisting with class work and possibly providing out of class work programmes to ensure students with hearing impairments have the same opportunity to achieve as their peers.

Essential skills and experience for this role:

-          Ideal candidate will be British Sign Language Qualified

-          Strong experience of working with children and young people with hearing impairments

-          Experience working to support vulnerable young people in other Special Educational Needs capacities

-          Experience working as a Learning Support Assistant or Teaching Assistant in a previous role
