Graduate Children’s Support Worker
Location: Longridge
Pay: £13.75 per hour
Contracts: Part‑time (20 hrs/week) and Full‑time (40 hrs/week) available
Shifts: Includes days, evenings, late nights, and sleep‑ins
About the Role
Are you a recent graduate in childcare, education, or health‑related studies? Do you want to make a meaningful difference to children with complex educational and care needs, in both school and residential settings? This position offers the ideal start to your career, combining child‑centred care with creative support for learning and personal development.
You’ll be part of a supportive team delivering safe, compassionate care in line with OFSTED standards. Your days (and nights) will involve:
- Helping children with daily living tasks and life‑skills development.
- Supporting in-class learning and positive behaviour strategies.
- Planning and joining in activities like baking sessions, cinema trips, forest walks and more.
- Maintaining a welcoming home‑from‑home: laundry, meals, shopping, tidying.
- Collaborating with clinical staff, educators, and local authorities.
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome enthusiastic graduates who:
- Hold a degree (or equivalent qualification) in childcare, education, social work, psychology, health or a related field.
- Are compassionate, adaptable, and able to “read” and respond to varied situations.
- Possess strong communication skills and a genuine interest in working with children or young people.
- Have a full UK driving licence (essential due to rural location and activity transport).
- Bring energy and flexibility to cover a range of shifts including evenings, late nights, and sleep‑ins.
Experience is welcome but not essential: comprehensive training, mentorship, and NVQ opportunities will be provided.
What You’ll Get
- A wage of £13.75 per hour, with enhanced rates for overnight sleep‑ins.
- Part‑time and full‑time contracts to suit your lifestyle.
- Fully‑funded NVQ Children & Young People’s Workforce qualifications available after probationary period.
- Career progression, professional development, and ongoing mentoring.
- Free parking and meals on shift.
- Access to the Blue Light Card and Cycle‑to‑Work schemes.
- A friendly, inclusive working culture and social activities.
Why Join Us?
You’ll be working in a modern, purpose-built environment set in beautiful countryside, supporting children aged 8–19 with autism, SEMH (social, emotional, mental health), and other additional needs. With residential homes that feel like family settings, the role offers both therapeutic support and educational nurture—all with the chance to help shape long‑term care and learning experiences.
